Aquilino Pimentel Jr.

I have signed up for the online petition for snap elections because I support it 100%. But I say it should have happened right after the evil fake president grabbed the throne - right after she deprived us of democratic rights.

I, however, could never fathom other people's understanding of the whole thing. I know of a lot of people, most of them family members and relatives, who still thinks GMA as some sort of a hero - that she cheated in the recent presidential polls to save our nation from further corruption and moral degradation. They were of course referring to the Erap Administration. I say they are being ridiculous! They believe that she cheated and yet they have justified her wrongdoing in their own conscience as an heroic act. How ridiculous can it get? The only fact that we should consider is: GLORIA ARROYO CHEATED HER WAY TO PRESIDENCY. From that fact, we should be reasonable and educated enough to conclude that the act only meant a mad craving for the position. Because while in position, she has the power to steal, abuse, and kill all she wants. Because while in position, her whole family has protection from the law that's why her husband is now like a wild animal on the loose. Because while in position, she can manipulate everything to her advantage. All these because we let her.

My father always quotes Jose Rizal..."The Filipinos are not yet ready..." and I totally agree that until now this quote holds true. We can be blind and we can be idiots. Like what my favorite columnist Conrado de Quiros said, to question who else is more fitting to become president than Gloria is idiotic - because that is what polls are for. Is it a question that I alone has to answer? No, it is for what all Filipinos as a whole dictates. Or has Gloria made us forget about what democracy really is with her being a devout churchgoer and her mother image?
